Options for making your 4th of July sparkle

With the upcoming 4th of July holiday just around the corner, we want to be sure you have your day of fun and night of Fireworks planned out! Sure, there's the option of staying home and watching Macy's 4th of July Fireworks on TV. This year's 37th annual spectacle, entitled "It Begins With a Spark," likely won't disappoint.

But if you really want to experience the pop and sparkle firsthand, there's a lot of choices in our area.

Marina del Rey hosts the 2013 4th of July Fireworks Show beginning at 9 pm.  Burton Chace Park located at 13650 Mindanao Way, and Fisherman's Village located on Fiji Way are premier locations for viewing. Parking is always challenging on this night, so pull together a delicious picnic basket and get there early.

Head to Pasadena for the 87th Annual 4th of July Celebration at the Rose Bowl. The day begins at 2:00 pm with a festival for families, live music and TNT motorcycle stunts. When the clock strikes 9, the fireworks show begins! Tickets are available now.

If you've ever had the chance to get tickets for the Hollywood Bowl July 4th Fireworks Spectacular, you know it's worth it! This year's celebration includes Josh Groban, accompanied by the Los Angeles Philharmonic as well as a magnificent display of fireworks.

Before the skies are dark enough for fireworks, check out the Newport Harbor 4th of July Boat Parade beginning at 1:00 pm in Newport Harbor/Balboa Island. It's free and you'll see 100+ vessels cruise through the harbor until 5:00 pm.

Whatever your plans, have fun and be safe!
