Your (more active) work day, Part I

This entire week we're dedicated to the topic of staying healthy and active throughout your work day. Some of us are fortunate not to be sitting at a desk for somewhere between seven and ten hours a day. But most of us aren't that lucky. And thanks in large part to the brilliant weather, enough people live in Los Angeles to make traffic one of our biggest issues. So on top of the time at your desk, you're likely adding (on average) between 30 and 60 minutes sitting in your car. And for some of you unlucky folks, that's just one way.
Add to that sitting down for meals, being back on your computer or sitting on the couch watching TV in the evening, and sleeping - we spend a significant portion of life not moving.

So this week we'll tackle a variety of topics on how to make your work life feel (and actually be) less sedentary. And unless your office looks like this...

Or you're ahead of curve like Al Roker of The Today Show with this...

Then we think this is worth your time.

Don't save yourself trips. You know, like when you create a plan of attack to use the restroom, grab the paper off the printer, get a refill on water and manage to return to your seat using the fastest route possible.

Don't sit during your entire lunch break. Use the time to get outside, walk around the building or walk to a local coffee shop.

Speaking of coffee...Tag along for the coffee break. Even if you don't drink coffee. Or you're saving up for the weekend happy hour.

Skip the elevator or escalator. You'll beat everyone on the elevator too. No stops on every floor.
No awkward silence.

Actually that last piece of advice works for all sorts of places in life.
As does this...
